Easter 2013

Emma loaded up on books, stickers, and chalk in this year's basket!

All dressed up.  Emma has a double ear infection and had a rough day and night, we decided it would be best to stay home from church.  We dressed up anyway for a few pictures.

We headed up to my mom's to get a family shot.
Plus we got to hang out with these two handsome fellas!

Happy Easter!

Reflection of Easter by a two year old...

I hope you have a great Easter.  Don't worry it wasn't as bad as it looks....

"Tie" dyed eggs

Today was our 2nd annual tie dye Easter egg adventure.

What you need

100% silk ties (Goodwill and Salvation Army, our choice)
A thin sheet (I usually get a sheet from the above places to cut up)
Eggs
1/4 c. vinegar
bread ties or floral wire

Cut the ties open and remove the inside form and the silk end pieces
Wrap the egg with the design side touching the egg and tie tightly with wire
Then cover again with piece of sheet
Bring eggs to a boil and let sit for 20 minutes
Remove from water allow to cool and then unwrap the surprise!

Here's the snapshots from my phone:

Here are the ties with the insides out and ready to use.  Our selection wasn't that great this year, we need to start collecting them earlier.  The brighter and bolder the design the better. The second from the left and the brown tie in the middle were the least favorite of the group.  The brown one is the ugly mustard color you will see below.  You just have to take a chance and see what you get!

All ready to go into the water!
Tada!
This is from a maroon tie
A red tie
This one was from a crazy spotted tie that all the colors looked alike, it made a cool design.
This is from an awful tie that had birds and sky on it.  We planned it out for the bird's face to transfer and it worked and turned out pretty cool!

We usually get two eggs out of a tie, if you have the eggs and time you can try to get three!

The original blog I got the idea and information from.

Sunday

Have a great Sunday.  It is rainy with a chance of snow on the way.  Oh well....

Run Tonya Run!

This time last year if you asked me to start running I would have laughed in your face said "NEVER!"

Then you would have gotten to this year and said "LIAR!"

It has finally warmed up enough that I can attempt the couch to 5k program again.  I completed it via treadmill earlier but pretty much stopped really doing anything but here and there.  Today I did day two and I'm pretty proud that I'm not dying like I was Monday.

I ran/walked in a 5k in December, but I want to be able to run an entire race and feel like I accomplished something.  So I'm on my way.  I am walking in a Leprechaun race tomorrow night so maybe I can do a little running too.

29 Months

Every month I think how fast it is all going!

Emma had a good first night in her 'big girl bed' as she calls it.  She actually slept in there most of the night (she usually gets in bed with us in the middle of the night)  She is super proud and excited and I hope this will help with the potty training issues we are having.   Today is her monthday!  I swear she will have them until she tells me to stop!!!

Today was a beautiful day.  Yes we still have Christmas lights up.  The weather has been so bad and Justin couldn't borrow a ladder!!!
