TEeA time

TEeA time

This is one of the sweetest pictures. The boys absolutely ADORE Em and I love that they just have to get their hands on her and the smiles on their faces are permanently there when they have her!
Mamaw and Emma
That same day Mamaw Kat joined us and she was able to spend some time with her great granddaughter. Emma is the sixth great grandchild and the first one since Garett! (I should add that she has two great great grandchildren now!)

One more from this day I promise! Emma and all her cousins!

I always hated Santa and wanted to make sure I at least gave this one good try!

Here comes Santa Claus!

A pony (doesn't most girls want a pony when they are little?)
A miniature cow (in honor of Erika!) and
A fainting goat (o.k. that is on my list, because I love watching them "faint")

I know this is a big list to fill. I think a wagon and some diapers are in her near future!

Where does the time go?

It is hard to think that we have had Emma for 2 months! We are really lucky because she is such a good baby! She cries when tired, dirty, or hungry. She is easy to sooth and usually goes between crying to a smile and back to a whine because she can't decide what she wants to do more!

She is a good eater and sleeper, usually sleeps through the night and sometimes wakes up between 3 or 5 to eat and then sleeps a few more hours. Her naps during the day are starting to be shorter and it is harder to get her to fall right to sleep (but is isn't as bad as I would have thought!)

I hope I don't jinx myself! She may look like her daddy but she loves to sleep just like her mom! She still hates being on her belly. If she doesn't start to like it soon I fear she may just have to walk and skip all the rest! :) Her neck is getting stronger and stronger. She prefers to be held upright when awake so she can check out everything going on around her. She also loves to "talk" she will just coo and coo when she is being sung to or when someone wants to strike up a conversation!

I have two more weeks at home with her. I have tried not to think about it so I could just enjoy my time but now that it is creeping up to be January I am going to miss my days of living on Emma time!

8 weeks

Yes, I made her hairbow!

Christmas dress

I was scared she was going to out grow it even though it is sized 3 months. She is almost out of 3 mo. clothes and she isn't 2 months yet!

Same dress 32 years apart

Here we have me and Em in my dress from 1978! It is pretty cool that mom saved the dress and Emma was able to wear it for a picture!

We are family

Here is my family. Something I wanted for so long and God has been so good to provide me with a caring husband (who is an outstanding father) and a sweet, precious little girl.

Sweet like candy

At this point she sleeps A LOT! She has also started to smile and will give us a big mouth open smile when we talk baby talk to her. She is also tracking with her eyes and loves to watch when someone is talking to her.

Here's Emma

I won't lie and say it was a bike ride labor. It was very scary at the end and I'm very lucky that Emma and I both are here and healthy!

Emma was born at 5:32am on October 10th, she was 9 lbs. 6 oz. and a little over 20 inches long.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Last January Justin and I found out I was pregnant. 18 weeks later we found out we were going to have a baby girl. In the picture above you have Emma Jean O'Dell's first photo and an afghan, towel, and bib that my mother had bought when Justin and I married 7 years earlier because she just knew we were going to have a girl!

The months past and I grew and grew. I also spent most of time worrying about the health of our baby to be. I had lost two babies during our parental journey (One in March 2008 and the other in October 2009) The days would drag by and I would constantly be concerned with what could be wrong. I was afraid to post or even take pictures for fear of putting a jinx on everything. I daily had to tell God it was in his hands and it took all my will to put it all in his hands and trust his guidance during the journey.
Here I am a tiny thing in July. Little did I know that by my due date I would be much larger than what I was already feeling.
Here I am with two of my nephews a few weeks before Emma arrived!
Here I am just days before Emma arrived. I can't believe I was so big!
