A witty title fails me...

This week is the beginning of the end.  I have three days of inservice and Target's weekly ad had those nasty school supplies listed.  I may cry when I go to the store and see the school supplies on display.  I have enjoyed my time with Em so much!  We have spent most of our mornings going for a walk.  We took our first girls only road trip.

This morning we have enjoyed the cooler temperatures and played outside before it could, maybe, possibly rain (or not!) Anyway, enough chatter here's my cutie!

Breakfast was not the usual oatmeal instead banana and cereal bar!

I have always wanted to do this and all Em asks for is a snack so that was her thought bubble for the time.  Having her on her back and smile was impossible!  So the thought bubble idea had to be changed. Ha, it makes me giggle!

Em spent some time telling me to draw so she could carry the chalk around and rearrange it in the containers.

Then we got fancy and took a self portrait.  Which is cool, especially when I'm all sweaty looking and disheveled! haahaa! BUT when your toddler is willing to look at the camera and say cheese, "you take the good, you take the bad and there you got (sing it with me) the facts of life!"

I'm going to try to add a video everyday of a song I like.  This is my favorite Tracy Chapman song. "The Promise" Enjoy!

Home again, home again...

Yesterday, after a nice big breakfast at Signe's, Em and I loaded up to head home.

We drove back to Greenville to see Ash for a little bit before heading home.

Em was so excited to see her daddy, mamaw, papaw and Knox (our dog). I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

This morning we started the day with Erika running in The Firecracker 5k. It was fun to watch and Em would yell "Go Gika".

After that we headed to the beach and waited for the fly over. It was pretty cool to stand at the shore in our red, white, and blue and wave a flag as they passed.

We had dinner with Erika's parent's house and hiked down to Harbor Town to the fireworks! Emma enjoyed them!  It was a lovely time and a great memory! We even had patriotic toes to match!

Monday, my temporary Funday!

What a crazy past couple of days! Saturday was J's grandfather's birthday so we had a cookout. Em enjoyed playing with her cousin Ava.

Saturday night we put arm floats on Em and she loved it. I have another water baby this year. On Sunday Em and I left for Greenville. I used a DVD player and it was so worth it. Em slept for awhile but there were no screaming fits! After eating at Chipotle, Ash and I took Em to a park to let her play, she enjoyed herself in some gale force winds!

Monday bright and early we hit the road for HHI. It was another nice drive I stopped outside of Columbia to let Em walk for a bit. We made it to Erika's by 11 had lunch at Signe's and then hit the beach!

Weekend.

Today is packing day and I'm on the couch wishing for a nap!  Emma and I are loading up tomorrow afternoon to hit the road and visit HHI for the 4th!  It has been a long standing tradition.

My college roommate lives in HHI and pre-baby loved traveling down and relaxing.  I know things are going to be a little different and less relaxing, but it is a tradition I would like to continue and make special for E.  Wish us luck!

Commenting Challenge, Last Day!

Last day of Jenna's challenge. I am pretty proud I actually stuck with it.  Who knows maybe with a few new readers I will continue to put it out there and maybe some of you can help me out!

My Dream vacation would be Hawaii.  Everyone in my family has been there but me!  It's a cliche place but the pictures and the tales make it sound like a fantastic place to go!  I would love to take Emma in a few years when she will be able to travel better.

Speaking of Emma and traveling.  She and I are going to attempt to go to Hilton Head Island.  The plan is to leave here and drive to Greenville, SC for the night and get up early and hopefully miss traffic enough to make the trip in the true 4 hours.  This will be our first long trip.  Emma and I have made it to Greenville for a weekend with about 70% success.  The drive home was rough when she woke up at the bottom of the mountain (yes, that's how we measure it!) and cried the rest of the way home.  Any survival hits on how to best travel with a 20 month old?!  Are DVD players a way to help or do they end up adding to the problem?!

Here's our morning in two photos. The first is Emma sitting and sipping some milk while I make her oatmeal.  The second is the top of the dam where I walk everyday.  It was miserable hot at 8:30 this morning, but Emma and I did well!

Commenting Challenge Day 4...Hobbies

If I had to say my number one hobby it would be reading.  Before I had E I spent everyday reading (only a small hiatus while in Graduate school, because that reading was not fun!)

I enjoy reading a lot of Young Adult novels because I work with middle school children and I like to have books to recommend or to talk to them about.  I also love the Sookie Stackhouse novels, they are so silly that once I started I had to keep going.  As long as it is interesting I will read it.

I love to travel. I have friends from college that I visit often (not as much since E is still little) I will hop in the car and drive the 6 hours to Hilton Head Island for a long weekend or I will do the same for a regular weekend to Greenville.  Greenville, SC has to be may favorite city of all time. (Yes, even over NYC)

In college I would travel all over and follow a few bands. Guster and Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers being my favorite.  I love music and try to expose Emma to different types of music.  I like to listen to "new grass" and artists that are not in the main stream. Mumford and Sons is doing a stop over day long festival in my town in August and I'm super excited to see a group that usually wouldn't stop in such a small town.

I could go on and on about this topic but Emma would rather go to the pool!  Maybe if I remain a good blogger I can share a song a day or so!

We had a stay at home and in our pjs or walking clothes kind of day yesterday.
